For many years, while Neal was as a partner in some of the largest law firms in the world, Neal’s work in the insolvency, debt restructuring, and business bankruptcy areas consisted almost exclusively of work for large secured and unsecured creditors, as well as committees of creditors.  During these years, Neal represented large financial institutions like The First National Bank of Chicago, Wells Fargo, Citicorp, Heller Financial, LaSalle National Bank, Principal Life, Lincoln National Life, Delaware Investments, Barclays’ Bank, National Westminster Bank, and Bank of America in workouts, debt restructurings, and business bankruptcies.   Neal has represented secured and unsecured creditors in the negotiation and documentation of complex transactions, in the effective enforcement of their rights in litigation and bankruptcy, and in the successful defense of “lender liability” claims, including fraudulent transfer claims.
