Meet Neal L. Wolf

Neal Wolf is an experienced, widely known, and highly regarded business litigator and bankruptcy specialist with a strong national reputation and practice. He is a partner in the Chicago-based law firm of Freeborn & Peters LLP, a full service business law firm with over 150 professionals and with satellite offices in New York City, Richmond, Tampa, and Springfield, Illinois.  He has long been regarded by his peers as one of the best in his field, as reflected by his annual selection for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White). He focuses his practice in the areas of business litigation, commercial transactions, corporate finance, real estate, real estate finance, business reorganizations, workouts, debt restructuring, and bankruptcy.

Neal was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy in 1997, at the time of induction of the College’s eighth class. He was only the fourteenth representative of the Seventh Circuit at the time of his induction.

In his long career, Neal has developed substantial expertise in representing clients in the following industries, among others: agricultural products, airlines, commercial real estate, construction (including highway construction), continuing care retirement communities, food products, government contracting, hospitals, hospitality and hotels, meatpacking, medical and hospital products, newspapers, news media (television and radio stations), petroleum industry services, pharmaceuticals, professional services, public and quasi-public utilities, railroads, residential real estate, retail, shopping centers, and steel.

Neal’s practice is truly national. He is a member of the bar of the states of California and Illinois. During his career, he has appeared in the federal and state courts, and regulatory agencies, of more than 40 states and the Territory of Puerto Rico. He currently is representing clients in pending cases or negotiations in California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, and New York, as well as Illinois.

Between 2011 and 2014, Neal headed his own, seven attorney boutique, Neal Wolf & Associates, which had offices in Chicago and San Francisco.

Neal received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
